Last month, I photographed the Emmes Corporation 10 year celebration for their office opening in India. From their headquarters in Rockville, MD, the staff went above and beyond to demonstrate the Indian culture. On this occasion, they highlighted the employees that emigrated from India, and all the people that have expanded their business through their work there.
During the day, the floors of their headquarters were decorated in like manner to keep the celebration top of mind. In one room, there was a henna artist producing designs for employees that came by. Later in the afternoon, a yoga teacher that had a peaceful meditation session in a large empty room. In contrast, a Bollywood dance class got the heart rate up after lunch! Finally, you could chill with the sitar musicians playing in a break room. What a colorful day at work!
The photos from the 2016 USA Dance released of the Mid-Atlantic Championships held last weekend! Although we have previously covered this event, we did not make it last year. Of course we were excited when we were free this year. Without a doubt the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center is one of the best ballrooms in the DC Area. Here is the link to all of the photos:
At this time, we implemented a new strategy for photos. In case you have never attended this event, it is very large! Not to mention, there are very few breaks throughout the event. So our solution was to have dancers sign up to have us photograph them. Thus, we can concentrate on those that definitely wanted photos. Further, we could make more photos of them so they had a lot to choose from later.
Last Saturday evening, I was invited to photograph the Bachata Masters event held at the Rendezvous Social Dance Club. This is the latest event in a series that Kat, the owner of Ferocity Dance Company, has organized. It has been a lot of fun at each but the energy at this particular one was at another level!
Dance Workshop
These are always well attended by so many dancers of varying experience levels. Throughout the day, the workshop to learn new techniques, and refine styling, then come back at night to party, dance, and show off their new moves. It is awesome to see so many friends new and old that request to dance and they really have a great time dancing to the music played by DJ EMERZIVE & DJ RENZO.
At the middle point of all the dancing, the floor was cleared for some featured Showcases. This was a treat for everyone that was in attendance. The lineup included Ferocity Dance Company, Alma DC, the headlines, DANIEL & DESIRÉE – World Bachata Masters Champions from Spain. I setup my lights to get some cool images of all the performances. It was a great audience for these performers and they were so responsive for what they were seeing. If you get a chance, please look for videos of these performances online – they were fun to watch, and I looked for them since I was busy at the time!

Thanks to Kat and all the dancers that were out there last Saturday. You helped me to get some great photos, and it looked like you had a great time. I am sure that there will be more events in the future – check out the Ferocity Dance Company website for updates.
