Photos from last weekend’s 2016 That’s Dancing Winter Showcase are released at TimeLine Media! Although we had a busy weekend of events, this was a fun way to finish up. To be sure, we have been at this venue before. We have even photographed this event here before. However, the new routines that Carlos and Jackie prepared always keeps the photos fresh. Student Routines

Once you arrive for the winter showcase, Marielle really sets the scene nicely for fun night. Plated dinner for the audience, and a showcase-ready dance floor for the performances. Different from last year, they had a beautiful blue backdrop setup. It provided a nice setting for the colorful dresses. Also, it was a nice staging area for performers to get on and off the stage. With attention to the photos, these are the closest to studio images I have made!

2016 Gaithersburg Tea Dance

Last weekend, the Arthur Murray studio in Gaithersburg, Maryland invited me to their studio. The staff hosted a holiday tea dance on Saturday afternoon. This was the first time I had visited their location! Even though I have been photographing them for years at the large events, I have not been inside previously.

Participation is one of the strengths of this studio. As soon as dancing starts at Freestyles, it will not be long until you hear, “Go Gaithersburg!” in the ballroom. Of course, the same was true here. During the afternoon, there were social dances, and some performances put on by their staff.

Afterwards, I got some group photos of everyone there. This was a challenge with all the people that attended the dance! Seeing that there were so many people attending on a weekend during a busy time, it was heart-warming to see. Without a doubt, they create a community around their passion for dance. They support dancers of every level, and they are genuine in wanting everyone to progress and succeed.

After the guests left, I made some group photos of the staff. Of course, these would be great for holiday cards from the studio. I really enjoyed the short time I had with them. They were in the holiday spirit, and very happy with the turn out for their tea dance! In any case, I don’t think it would be hard to get great photos of this group. They play off against each other well! Since they work together every day, they know how to get good expressions out of their coworkers. Congratulations, on a great 2016 Gaithersburg! I look forward to more images in 2017.

Photos from the That’s Dancing 2016 Summer Showcase are expiring at the TimeLine Media proofing site on Monday! This was their in-studio showcase in the middle of summer. At this time, all the trivia questions and routines tied into a Disney theme.

Staff Shows

Marielle really puts a very nice show together for their Showcases. Once you attend and see the thought put into their themes, you will be impressed! For one thing, this is something that will have to be planned for very early. Especially those doing dance routines need to have costumes and music that fit the theme. Of course the staff helps students pull that off, then they work on staff shows that do the same. In like fashion, they use the staff shows to tie in the theme as well as giving the students something to work towards. To illustrate what is possible with their dancing at the studio, they give students new goals for their next showcase. Because December will come quickly, it will not be long before they are back practicing and learning. See you at the next one!
