Last week I went out to the Plaza at Tysons Corner Center. On Tuesday the MLB All Star Game was broadcast on a large screen. On this occasion the sports talk radio station 106.7 The Fan was there to give away prizes for the Washington Nationals. Danny Rouhier emceed some of the games, and running president George Washington came to say hello!

Prior to this week, there was a concert stage setup right where the large TV screen was installed. Rachel Platten sang for the crowd, and this night she was now singing the National Anthem at the All Star Game! Above all, George Washington was the star of this event. Undeniably being the tallest person in the room helps to garner attention!

Luckily, the weather in Tysons was just as good as San Diego where the game was played!

2016 June Concerts – Tysons Corner Center

Last month, the 2016 June Concerts on the Plaza at Tysons Corner Center started again! The Macerich team had me cover these to illustrate the community that they are building there. Luckily the nice weather, and the awesome musicians brought out the crowds!

The Legwarmers

Local 80’s cover band, the Legwarmers was the first concert that I photographed. Since they are local, and put on a phenomenal stage show, the Plaza was packed! The familiar songs, and their musicianship was so much fun to capture. Jen Richer from 94.7 Fresh FM was there to introduce the band, and join in the 80’s musical celebration.

Rachel Platten

Undoubtedly one of the biggest stars of the 2016 June Concerts series was Rachel Platten. On this occasion, she had a couple of hits playing on the radio. Moreover, she was scheduled to sing the National Anthem at the MLB All Star game the following weekend! Having such an enthusiastic crowd makes it easy to get dynamic crowd photos.

Peloton – Tysons Corner Center

Being that I am a regular photographer at Tysons Corner Center, they referred me to Peloton. Given that their location in the mall was gaining popularity with the high-tech product, they needed some updated images for their website. Compared to other stores I have photographed, this was a minimalist look throughout.

Having a clean store in general, is a goal for any website images. On the whole, this was not a problem as this store was camera ready early in the day! The only suggestion I had was to turn on the television. In fact, this is something I do for any interior photos shoot. Having a black square hanging on a wall does not add to photo. Even if the screen just has a simple logo, it add purpose to its placement.

Afterwards, there was a good amount of post processing needed for these images. To begin with, I had no idea that there were so many plugs in this store! Whenever you walk through a place in real life, these little details seem to disappear by default. However in still photos that can be examined in detail, it is better to take them out. Also, please know that there are no ‘wireless’ Peloton bikes. They still need to be plugged in!
