The Plaza – Tysons, VA

Kris Allen returned to Tysons for the 2019 Christmas Tree Lighting event. Prior to this year, he had visited in 2016 at the holidays for the same occasion. Still I don’t think Santa thinks that Kris will be stealing his job anytime soon! In contrast to the last time Kris performed, the weather was markedly colder out on the Plaza.

Plaza Christmas Tree

While the concert was still going on, I walked through the Plaza away from the Concourse. Straightaway you can see the beautiful curving urban design of the space. Previously, I made my favorite image of the Plaza from this fire pit. Although the sky did not have the nice blue color that the original had, I still attempt to get this photo every year. When all the lights on the tree are lit, and combined with the colored light on the Hyatt, it just looks like the holidays in Tysons. So maybe this is a new Christmas tradition for me? The Plaza – Tysons, VA

In June, Tysons Corner Center revived their 2019 Summer Concert Series. Whereas I went to all the concerts last year, I had a busier schedule this summer. Regardless of how many I could attend, there were lot of people out there to #playontheplaza on Fridays.

Thompson Square hit the plaza with an energetic and modern Country sound. Not only did they connect with the audience, but the husband and wife team had a great musical connection. While doing the meet and greet before the performance, their fans were some of the friendliest when meeting the artists!

Echosmith

With the second show that I photographed, Echosmith rocked the Plaza crowd! Seeing that they were siblings, it was not surprising that they had a great cohesive style both on and off stage. Compared to Thompson Square, this was more up my alley musically, but I enjoyed both of these. Let me know who you would like to see playing out on the Plaza next year!

Lance Bass 2018 Christmas Tree Lighting

Tysons Corner Center

Earlier this month, I photographed Lance Bass at the 2018 Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony at Tysons Corner Center. Undoubtedly *NSYNC was one of the most popular bands of the 2000s, so his fan base is still strong. As we accompanied Lance through the BrandBox area in the mall, it was a challenge to keep selfie and autograph seekers from crowding around him!

In contrast to last year’s event, we did not get lucky with the weather. Not only was it very cold and rainy outside, but a layer of new snow blanketed the Plaza. Although not all of the scheduled performers could get out there for safety reasons, the show still went on. Additionally, the Christmas Tree was still lit! Thankfully, I think I have warmed up since then.
