Sunday Rest

Warm out this weekend! It’s a good day to go to the park. Maybe take a photo of a flower or two. On this occasion, we took a trip out this Sunday to the Green Spring Gardens. Since it is so close to our home, it is our default destination for a nature walk.

On this Sunday, there were many blooms around the gardens. Although we have a lot of nice flowers around the house, this park has a great variety planted. Also, it is nice to get some ideas on what to plant in your graden. Especially since it is in the same climate, you can find what works well for this area. Moreover, they have some flowers and plants on sale out of their conservatory on site!

Being that this is a photography blog, I post about things that could be related to photography. However, let me know what you like to relax and recharge over the weekends. At this time I still enjoy my job, but a departure from working all the time would be nice. I hope you are enjoying a Sunday off as well!

June Saturdays

©TimeLine Media - wedding photography

It’s just that time of year. For wedding photographers especially, their Saturdays are full in the middle of their busy season! There is nothing like have a wedding in June. I have photographed and assisted in photographing several weddings in the DC Area. At this time, the city landmarks will be dotted with brides and grooms. While they are out a photographer is directing them to pose, and look. The photographer is attempting to make some nice photos while trying to minimize the tourists in the background. Given that this is such a photogenic city they have made a great choice of location!

Wedding Photography

It is nice to be part of their big day, and a responsibility that I took for granted before being the person behind the camera. These are the photos that are looked at by multiple generations. In that case, these photos are the first family heirloom. Additionally, these are the items that are sought after when natural disasters take other material possessions. They will survive long after the flowers and cake. These thoughts keep me sharp throughout the day, and humble me every time someone asks me to photograph their wedding.

Memorial Day – 2013

©TimeLine Media - Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

This weekend the USA commemorates the women and men who have died serving our country. Being close to Washington, DC, there is a lot of activity around Memorial Day. For example, motorcycles for Rolling Thunder rumbling through the streets. Additionally, military and political leaders are visible at ceremonies. Finally, many families get together for a 3-day weekend. Even if they do not have a military connection, they are enjoying the benefits of their service.

The grounds of Arlington provide an especially beautiful backdrop to remember military service. Moreover, if they are family members, it is a reverent place to visit and honor their sacrifice. For one thing, Arlington is full of soldiers with recognizable names. Comparatively, there are some who are unknown to this day. For this reason, I understand the reverence given to fallen soldiers that were never identified.

Although this is a famous burial ground, every part of the country has a similar area. If you get a chance, visit and spend some time reflecting on what they have done. Above all, Thank YOU to all that continue to serve.
