DC Dance Challenge

Since we were coming back to the Westin in Alexandria, we had a similar setup to last year. Jennifer Bonini setup the ballroom very nicely again this year! Along with the warm stadium lighting that was brought in, the ballroom had a soft glow for the event. For this reason, we had an easy setup for photos. Comparatively to other ballrooms, their tall ceilings meant the lights were as high as I could get them!

2019 Tysons Tailgate – Tysons Partnership

Valo Park, McLean, VA

Last month, I photographed the 2019 Tysons Tailgate at Valo Park. Since it was the 4th annual edition, the Tysons Partnership team put together another well-attended and fun event! Compared to the downpour that dampened some of the spirits last year, they had amazing autumn weather for an evening outside.

2019 Tysons Tailgate

In case you have not seen my previous events for the Tysons Partnership, know that I enjoy working for them. Of course they have some of the most well-attended Tysons events. Also, their members enjoy having their photos taken, and they come to events wanting to build the next great city. Moreover the Tysons Partnership team works very well together. Although you cannot see in these photos, there were some big challenges to overcome this evening. With little time to come up with solutions, they pulled it off while not letting it show on their faces. It only makes me want to work harder to show off their efforts with awesome photos!

Tysons Corner Center

Since we are starting Fall, I wanted to post about the 2019 3rd Quarter Media posted in and around Tysons Corner Center. Similarly to earlier in the year, it is nice to highlight some of the changes that keeps the mall a vibrant and effective showcase area. Since it is harder to plan, the outside photos of the pylon signs I was happy to make. The Route 7 specifically had a sunset shining through the space behind the sign and through the trees nicely. For photography geeks, having a really small aperture will create the nice rays from the sun.

Inside, the mall were new hanging and digital banners. Since Halloween is coming soon, the signs for American Scream projected very nicely on the digital board. Having the contrast between the dark background and the light text really made this one pop out especially from farther away. Fanta also had a digital tie-in with codes printed on their face. When you pointed your smartphone at the ad, they would come to life with more dynamic content! Surely this shows what it possible with handheld technology. Perhaps this would be something that photographers could take advantage of with all of their images!
