TimeLine Media Proofing Site Upgrades

Panorama of Belmont Bay - iPhone 5

Whew! The upgrades to the TimeLine Media proofing site are now completed. Additionally, the changes were implemented without any hitches so far. I would like to ask a favor of those of you that have visited the site before. Could you please come back and visit the website to see if you run into any bugs? If there are any issues, I would like to see if they can be fixed before the next big event. Of course it is completely free to view, and share the photos online as always. However, if you find a photo you want as a print or digital download, you can enter the coupon code:

This will take $5 off any order placed until next Monday. I have tested the site myself, and it works for me, but experiences can be different when many people try. It is not much different in appearance from the previous version, but here is what the new site looks like!

As far as new features, there is a mobile site that is better for mobile phones to access photos. This version of the site will allow the images to be loaded faster than with the full site. In this site, you can view all the photos on the website, and mark some of your favorites as you see them. You cannot, though, purchase any products in the mobile version of the site. In order to place orders, you need to switch to the Full Site version which you can do from the Home page. Here is a screen shot of where you can switch between the 2 versions if needed:

Once you click on the “View full site” you will switch to the version of the site where purchases can be made from your smart phone. The full site is the default version of the site that will be shown when you are on a PC, iMac or an iPad which have larger screens. Please note that if you do may purchases on iPads or other mobile devices, you need to immediately save your photos locally to your device. The website only allows one download of your photo per purchase by default. I can reset that for you, but it would be easier to just save your download as soon as you see it.

I know that this is a very techy-geeky post – thanks for reading this far! If you have any problems with the site, please let me know by email: rassi @ timelinedc.com, or phone me: 703-864-8208. Thanks again, and let me know how it goes. I’ll leave you with at least one photo looking across Belmont Bay to my hometown of Woodbridge, VA – taken by my mobile phone, and developed with the Snapseed app from Google:

Mason Neck Park

Here are some photos taken at Mason Neck State Park. This large park is full of mature trees that shade the roads and trails that surround you as you travel from the main road to the Visitor’s Center. The banners on the way into the park brag how well-rated the state parks of Virginia are rated nationally. I am biased being originally from the area, but this is an excellent example.

The admission price is especially well worth it for what you have access to at this park. All of the main facilities that are available are at a section of the park that is right by the banks of the Belmont Bay. From this view of the bay from here, you can see Woodbridge, Virginia and see where the Occoquan River flows to the Potomac River. Additionally, there are lots of easy to moderate difficulty trails to walk with plenty of views of the river. On this occasion, it was one of the mildest days we had all summer, and with billowy clouds in the sky, made some very nice photos!

Belmont Bay

As can be seen, there are leftover structures from piers, to blinds, and other conservation projects that line the shore. It is very accessible from trails. The area is known for bald eagles nesting in the trees. It is a popular spot for photographers to capture these birds, but I didn’t bring my big glass to try myself! Some of the trails take you over the marshlands to observe coastal plant life, tadpoles, and dragonflies.

Proofing Website

©TimeLine Media - American Star Ball

This upcoming Wednesday, I am planning an upgrade to the proofing website. The current site is working just fine, but there is a new version of the software available. There are some features that some of you have requested including a simple slideshow for viewing your photos. There is also a version that is specifically made for iPad users! Smartphone and iPads are used to view the websites more and more, so I am looking to make sure you get the full experience going forward.

On Wednesday, I will close the proofing website for testing. The self tests on the website should not take long, so there should be a seamless transition to the new software. I will post here on the blog when it is completed. Please try it out and let me know how you like the new features. If there are any issues, I will work to get them fixed before the next new event. Of course, I would be happy to help if there is something you cannot find n there. Thank you!
