On this occasion, the venue was the ballroom at the Dulles Hilton. Although this was a new venue for us, we really liked the setup of this room. Being that they had high ceilings, and plenty of room, the flashes really popped. With this in mind, I did not have any issues with making images. However, I did think it lessened the Halloween effect in the room. For this reason, I made all the room photos with the flashes off. When that was done, the colors of the walls really came out – spooky!

Pro-Am Dance Competition

We were at a new venue in contrast to last year’s event. At this time, we were in a larger ballroom at a hotel right on the beach! While we had added room, the crowd was still right on top of the action. Garry filled the ballroom while adjusting the decor for the larger space.

In reality, the photos were very good from my point of view. However, I thought I could do more to make them more consistent. With the larger stadium lighting, their color affected my photos. Undoubtedly amount of light was not a worry! That is the most important factor in getting great photos indoors. I hope you enjoy the images!

DC Dance Challenge

Since we were coming back to the Westin in Alexandria, we had a similar setup to last year. Jennifer Bonini setup the ballroom very nicely again this year! Along with the warm stadium lighting that was brought in, the ballroom had a soft glow for the event. For this reason, we had an easy setup for photos. Comparatively to other ballrooms, their tall ceilings meant the lights were as high as I could get them!
