Entercom Radio – Washington, DC

Since we are in the holiday season, I looked back over the blog and found that I did not post about the 2017 Radio Santa visit to downtown DC! Although this station has changed their name and personnel, they partnered with Tysons Corner Center for so many of their events over the years. Jen, Kelly and Tommy have familiar voices on the radio as well as in person at the mall. Because of the association, the Santa from Tysons took a trip down to their DC studios to make an appearance. He took calls, played games, and posed for lots of photos. I wish all the people from 94.7 well, and I hope to continue to see them at events soon!

Earlier this month, I photographed Lance Bass at the 2018 Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony at Tysons Corner Center. Undoubtedly *NSYNC was one of the most popular bands of the 2000s, so his fan base is still strong. As we accompanied Lance through the BrandBox area in the mall, it was a challenge to keep selfie and autograph seekers from crowding around him!

In contrast to last year’s event, we did not get lucky with the weather. Not only was it very cold and rainy outside, but a layer of new snow blanketed the Plaza. Although not all of the scheduled performers could get out there for safety reasons, the show still went on. Additionally, the Christmas Tree was still lit! Thankfully, I think I have warmed up since then.

2018 Summer Concert Series – Tysons Corner Center

The Plaza – Tysons, VA

The last two months of Fridays were the dates for the 2018 Summer Concert Series. Overall, I had another great summer of images! On account of getting lucky with the weather on most days, all the performances were out on the Plaza. Mandisa had some sprinkles, however, her dynamic presentation and enthusiastic WGTS crowd did not damper the show. During the Ryan Cabrera concert, a recently married couple danced on the stage to their wedding song live! In contrast to the big productions, some of the smaller setups still pumped out a lot of sound. Great Big World surprisingly had a large impact on earbuds! Then the retro sounds of O-Town (a funny statement just reading it) brought back some good memories from the height of the Boy-Band era.

Thanks to the marketing team from Macerich – Tysons Corner Center. They helped me get all access to areas before and during the concerts. Surely the large crowds make it easy to show the growing community built out on the Plaza. I look forward to more events this Fall!
