The photos from last Saturday’s 2018 That’s Dancing Summer Showcase are ready to view! Although it has been a couple of years since I have been to their studio, things are going well. On this occasion there were 10 student showcases presented in the first two acts. To see all the photos, click here:
Marielle invited me back to cover their studio event, and some new developments for That’s Dancing. Because of a leak that damaged their floor earlier in the year, they have a new dance floor! Undeniably having a nice surface for dancing is essential for a studio. Now their space is ready for events as well practice.
If the costumes and make up look a bit strange, it is important to realize the Showcase theme. Superheroes tied all the dance numbers together obviously in the dress, but also in the music. Modern movie soundtracks consequently give inspiration through music tracks perfect for dancing!
The 2017 That’s Dancing Winter Showcase photos are expiring at the TimeLine Media proofing site this coming Monday. Thank you to everyone that purchased and shared their photos! While they are still up, the link will be here:
After dancing most of the student routines, Carlos danced most of Act 3. How he remembers all of the technical intricacies of these varied numbers is a testament to his talent! At least the emcee does try to give him a break in between some routines.
With this in mind, the staff show displayed the talents of all of the professionals. Following the Showcase, I can see students gathering ideas for their future lessons. Since it is only a few months until the Summer Showcase, they will be working on their next routines soon! In addition working on routines is helpful for competition loops.
We were invited again to cover the 2017 That’s Dancing Winter Showcase! It has been a year since we have been at the Sheraton in Columbia, MD for this event. On this occasion, the theme was ‘Christmas Around the World’. As long as they are up, they will be found at this site:
Carlos and Jackie put together some great routines for this show. As can be seen in the photos, they were prepared well! All the numbers were done nicely, and the crowd appreciated it.
Thinking back to school, I remember giving oral reports in front of the class. With this in mind, I know the pressure to perform these routines. Not only is it difficult to remember the steps, but the nerves do not help. Surely it is harder to dance in front of your friends than strangers! So I appreciate everyone that signed up to dance. I hope you enjoy the photos!
