2019 Giving Back – Tysons Partnership

Ruth’s Chris, Tysons, VA

These photos were from the 2019 Giving Back event, the last one covered for the Tysons Partnership this year. Compared to their large holiday reception, this was a smaller gathering at Ruth’s Chris Steak House. It was not, however, smaller in enthusiasm as their crowd was full of holiday spirit. Christmas sweaters were encouraged and unsurprisingly many took advantage!

Thanks again for the Tysons Partnership for having me cover events for them this year! Now that the year is over, I am reviewing the photos from the blog. Overall, I think I delivered on what they were expecting from me, and I hope the Partnership finds the images useful. However, I am very grateful to have had access to their panels, forums, and being in the rooms where Tysons is taking shape. Whenever you stand on top looking down from a new tower, or drive through a newly developed neighborhood, it makes me appreciate the effort to get there. Meghan, Ellen, Ronit, Drew, and Sol, thanks for your support! I hope you have a great holiday season, and I’ll see you for more projects in 2020.

2019 Santa Breakfast

Tysons Corner Center

A couple of weeks ago, I covered the 2019 Santa Breakfast at Tysons Corner Center. Similarly to last year, there was a big crowd at the Food Court on Level 3. Santa got all the attention as he arrived by train. Also, Those Funny Little People performed a show while kids made it over to Santa. Although there were no formal photos with Santa while he was sitting in his set, there were still plenty of photos made while he was there. Meanwhile, there were many lined up for face painting and balloon animals. Kelly and Tommy from the Tommy show hosted the program, and they made sure all the vendors that participated were highlighted. Overall, I enjoyed the B8ta table. They had a combination of technology and STEM learning puzzles on display. I’m sure some Christmas ideas were found there!

2019 Holiday Reception – Tysons Partnership

Lumen at Tysons

Earlier in December, I photographed the 2019 Holiday Reception of the Tysons Partnership. The beautiful Lumen above all the other heights over Tysons was the venue. Compared to the last time I was in the penthouse, I was thankful that all the walls were now up. Certainly, I could enjoy the view! Although it was very cold outside, a few guests ventured out on the patios to take in the panoramas.

Holiday Reception

At the entrance to the Lumen, Wolf Trap Animal Rescue had puppies to play with while waiting for the elevators. Since there were many floors in between the puppies and the penthouse reception, I needed help. Thankfully Jae and Nikolai were available in order to catch all the events going on. Rather than rely on the fading sunlight for flower wall photos with the puppies, I set up one large flash for the room. In this case it worked well as the demand for puppy time did not wane for most of the night!

Prior to finishing up for the evening, I checked in upstairs. I made a few more photos especially the HOAR Construction team, local politicians, and other familiar faces. The Lumen was as illuminating on the inside as well as the outside!
