Washington, DC

Earlier this year, I volunteered some time to photograph the 2020 MWOY Candidates for the National Capital Area Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. In similar fashion to last year, I planned on bringing a mobile lighting setup to their venue. On this occasion, it was at the KPMG offices in downtown Washington, DC.

Overall this was an easy setup considering I have not been to this location previously. Above all, I want to thank the LLS team for their help in loading in the gear. Following the load in, setting up three flashes in the conference room was easy. While there, I was able to make photos of all the candidates there for the kick off.

2020 MWOY Candidates

The Man and Woman of the Year Candidates are embarking on a philanthropic competition to support blood cancer research. Indeed, I have contributed to their mission by making these headshots. When they have their gala dinner to announce the winner of the competition, they display these portraits throughout the venue.

2019 Giving Back – Tysons Partnership

Ruth’s Chris, Tysons, VA

These photos were from the 2019 Giving Back event, the last one covered for the Tysons Partnership this year. Compared to their large holiday reception, this was a smaller gathering at Ruth’s Chris Steak House. It was not, however, smaller in enthusiasm as their crowd was full of holiday spirit. Christmas sweaters were encouraged and unsurprisingly many took advantage!

Thanks again for the Tysons Partnership for having me cover events for them this year! Now that the year is over, I am reviewing the photos from the blog. Overall, I think I delivered on what they were expecting from me, and I hope the Partnership finds the images useful. However, I am very grateful to have had access to their panels, forums, and being in the rooms where Tysons is taking shape. Whenever you stand on top looking down from a new tower, or drive through a newly developed neighborhood, it makes me appreciate the effort to get there. Meghan, Ellen, Ronit, Drew, and Sol, thanks for your support! I hope you have a great holiday season, and I’ll see you for more projects in 2020.

Industrious – Arlington, Virginia

Andrew Clark led another non-profits panel discussion at Industrious for the Tysons Chamber. At the Courthouse location, he moderated the 2019 Charity to Change event. Erin Fuller, Tucker Wannamaker, and Sid Ghatak were on the panel in particular for their experience in charitable organizations.

Panel Discussion

Once the panelists were introduced the topic really took off. To illustrate the common challenges in working with their organizations, their comments seemed to resonate with the audience. Being that they all had similar experiences, they were receptive to suggestions, and strategies going forward. In short, this was another well-received event by Andrew. His series of bringing together nonprofits has connected leaders in these organizations. They do important work, but need each other’s support to be successful. I look forward to the next one!
