Industrious – Arlington, Virginia

Andrew Clark led another non-profits panel discussion at Industrious for the Tysons Chamber. At the Courthouse location, he moderated the 2019 Charity to Change event. Erin Fuller, Tucker Wannamaker, and Sid Ghatak were on the panel in particular for their experience in charitable organizations.

Panel Discussion

Once the panelists were introduced the topic really took off. To illustrate the common challenges in working with their organizations, their comments seemed to resonate with the audience. Being that they all had similar experiences, they were receptive to suggestions, and strategies going forward. In short, this was another well-received event by Andrew. His series of bringing together nonprofits has connected leaders in these organizations. They do important work, but need each other’s support to be successful. I look forward to the next one!

Industrious – Tysons, VA

The Tysons Chamber held the 2019 Bitcoin and Nonprofits event last week at Industrious. Given that this was my first time at this location, I found the room perfect for photos. For one thing, they had large windows across the exterior-facing walls. Additionally, the white ceilings reflected that natural light around the room. When the light hits the warm floors and mixed with warm added lighting, I really did not have to do much with the color.

Panel Discussion

In addition to the networking, a panel of technology leaders spoke about cryptocurrency and nonprofits. In general, all of these topics were not in my frame of reference. However, for the attendees that worked for or with nonprofits, I can see the value. In summary, there are advantages to using cryptocurrency for donations. Due to the emerging nature of this technology, rules are still fluid and need more discussion. Thanks to Andrew in particular for his work on this series!

Earlier this month, I reunited with TEDxTysons at a volunteer dinner to plan for another year! Given that they have had 3 years of events with good audience feedback, they will make more in 2019. In addition to finding enthusiastic volunteers and engaging speakers the TEDxTysons team has a talent for finding partners. Of course they have a TED brand to lean on, but they have a way of infecting their partners with their enthusiasm to reach the same goals.

When another TEDx event comes on my schedule, I look back on the previous photos on the blog. Without a doubt, getting involved with them has opened so many doors for me and my photography. Contact tracing the people they have connected me to has already spidered to places I could not have envisioned. Even more, the topics and speakers that I have been able to photograph has expanded my view of what and who is out there. These planning meetings really show the starting block of their efforts. Knowing their track record, I would get tickets for their next events as soon as they are available!
