The Plaza – Tysons, VA

In June, Tysons Corner Center revived their 2019 Summer Concert Series. Whereas I went to all the concerts last year, I had a busier schedule this summer. Regardless of how many I could attend, there were lot of people out there to #playontheplaza on Fridays.

Thompson Square hit the plaza with an energetic and modern Country sound. Not only did they connect with the audience, but the husband and wife team had a great musical connection. While doing the meet and greet before the performance, their fans were some of the friendliest when meeting the artists!

Echosmith

With the second show that I photographed, Echosmith rocked the Plaza crowd! Seeing that they were siblings, it was not surprising that they had a great cohesive style both on and off stage. Compared to Thompson Square, this was more up my alley musically, but I enjoyed both of these. Let me know who you would like to see playing out on the Plaza next year!

The Power of Place

Tysons Tower Club

Last month, I photographed Fairfax County: The Power of Place – an event produced by the Fairfax Couty Economic Development Authority. On this occasion, the venue was the beautiful Tower Club in Tysons. When you need to impress visitors to the area, this is the best location to put your best foot forward. To that end, the County was hosting visitors from an international convention in downtown DC. Meanwhile, speakers included representatives from businesses that have prospered in the area. Indeed, the setup of the conference room was perfect for photos. Though there was a strong light coming through the windows, they situated the speakers facing the light making good exposures easy to manage!

Student Showcase

In contrast to the last Showcase, I photographed in both rooms. By comparison, the smooth room was setup very differently. On this occasion, they setup a black backdrop with large HOLLYWOOD letters. Up against this background, I worried about black and white costumes. In reality, it was not too bad when reviewing the photos. With this in mind, please send me some feedback on how these look. It is a departure from their regular setup!

This time, I had a turn in the rhythm room. As has been noted, this is a more intimate space. Being that the floor is smaller, and the audience is right next to the floor, you are really front and center! I love the energy that floods the room. It really comes off in the images!
